How TrAidUp Helps Trades Happen

The short version

TrAidUp helps match people who have something to offer and want something in return.

A DirectTrAid is a one-to-one trade between two people. A TrAidLoop is a group trade where several people connect so everyone can receive something they want.

Think of it this way…

You are in a room with Luke S. You tell Luke that you would like to trade him for his Lightsaber. Luke says that he will trade with you. That’s great! This one-to-one trade is the simplest kind of trade we support. We call it a DirectTrAid

But what if Luke doesn’t want what you have? In a world without TrAidUp, this would mean that you would have to start the bartering process all over again. We call this an Incomplete Loop.

When you told Luke you wanted his Lightsaber, you created a connection between two possible trades. We call that connection a TrAidLink

Now imagine you are standing in a group of 3 people. Luke is on your right, and Bruce W. is on your left. Even though Luke doesn’t want what you have, Bruce does. And, Luke wants the Batmobile that Bruce has.

TrAidUp connects the group into a circle, or TrAidLoop .

Once the loop is complete, everyone then passes their item to the left. Everyone in the loop is getting exactly what they want, and you don’t have to start the bartering process over again.

Now imagine that there are 4 people in this loop instead of 3. Now imagine 5. Now 6, 7, 8, etc. It doesn’t matter how many people it takes to complete the loop, because everyone gets what they want.
